The honest trade-off is size versus stretch. Texarkana is a fraction of San Antonio's scale, so the big-employer menu, the nightlife, and the airport lift are smaller — most flights connect through Dallas out of Texarkana Regional (Webb Field). What you gain is room. Housing runs markedly cheaper than San Antonio's, so the same budget buys more square footage and a bigger lot, often in a quieter, tree-shaded neighborhood; both cities share Texas's no-state-income-tax advantage, so the real difference lands in your monthly housing cost. Weekends lean outdoors here — Wright Patman Lake, Bringle Lake, and the surrounding Piney Woods are the backdrop instead of the Riverwalk crowds.
