Planning a Storage Facility Office Move

At a storage facility, the office is also a sales floor for moving supplies. Your manager has to account for the counter where customers are helped, the workstations behind it, and the cartons, tape, wraps, and covers offered for sale. Mixed carton sizes and desk supplies need separate destinations.

We ask your manager to mark the supplies that must remain available until the old counter closes and to identify the stock that can go ahead. Carton sizes, tape types, and packing materials stay in their own labeled groups, while desks and front-counter pieces are tagged for the position they will occupy. Your staff decides what stock moves. We handle the physical packing and placement from that direction.

The receiving layout should mark display and backstock. Before loading, we match each group to a destination so the sales area can be set up without sorting loose cartons from office supplies. Customers' goods in the storage units are not part of this move; only the office and its supply stock travel.

Timing that works
Plan around the hours your customer counter is staffed, any inventory count your manager requires, and the window when the next sales area is ready.

What typically moves

  • Customer service counter and transaction station Freestanding counter pieces are tagged by destination; your manager decides which station stays active during the changeover.
  • Moving carton stock by size Flat cartons remain grouped by size and marked for either the new sales display or backstock position.
  • Tape, dispensers, and label supplies Small retail items are boxed by product group so mixed open cases do not become a sorting task at arrival.
  • Protective wrap, mattress covers, and moving pads Bulky but light supplies are kept apart from heavier counter equipment and labeled for their assigned shelf.
  • Sales display racks and freestanding shelving Your layout identifies which fixtures are portable and where each belongs before the merchandise is placed.
  • Manager desks, file cabinets, and office printers Each station carries a destination label; your staff separates current paperwork from stock records before packing.

Access and scheduling

The counter decides the calendar. Your manager decides when supply sales pause, what stock remains within reach, and who can authorize closing the old office. We can move backstock before the active display and counter. Ask about evening or weekend availability and confirm who can open both offices.

We also need a route for the long, flat cartons and the display fixtures. Tell us where the truck may stand, which door can be used for loading, and whether a hallway or shared entrance must remain clear. If a landlord or building manager requires a Certificate of Insurance, send the wording and access rules while the plan is being built. At the destination, your manager identifies display shelves and backstock positions for each carton size.

Protection and handling

We pack the retail stock by product group and destination. Flat moving cartons are banded or otherwise contained so corners do not fan out in transit; opened small-item cases go into labeled cartons rather than riding loose on a display. Wrap and covers stay in clean packages, away from hardware and desk equipment that could puncture them. We pad portable racks and counter sections and carry them separately from stock.

Your manager provides the product list and approves counts or discards. We place each group at its marked position; your staff checks quantities and readies the display. Gate-code records and tenant account paperwork stay with your manager, who carries them separately. An installer handles attached counters or display fixtures that need removal before we carry them.

Who does what

Some of this job belongs to other trades. The written plan names each one.

Inventory count, product list, and sales release
Your site manager records quantities, decides which supplies remain for sale during the move, and checks the new display. Our crew packs and places stock by the approved groups.
Attached counter sections and fixed displays
Your fixture installer releases and reinstalls pieces attached to the building. We move portable fixtures and released sections identified in the move plan.
Customer system and office connections
Your technology contact handles the system setup and verifies access. We handle the physical desk equipment move and reconnect it at marked stations.

Not part of our work

  • Counting merchandise, deciding which products to sell, or reconciling stock records; your manager owns those decisions.
  • Removing fixed counter sections or attached retail displays before an installer releases them.
  • Administering customer accounts or access settings; your staff and technology contact retain that work.

Around San Antonio and the Hill Country

Self-storage around San Antonio is built where people are moving: along Loop 1604, in Schertz and Cibolo near the JBSA gates, and out toward Boerne, Bulverde, and New Braunfels. Those offices may sell the most boxes in summer and during military PCS season, so a counter pause is easier to schedule outside those peaks. A new facility's office may still be finishing while its gate and units open, which decides where supply stock can wait.

Storage Facility Office Moving FAQs

Another question? Call (830) 329-7272.

Can moving cartons remain for sale while backstock is being moved?

Your manager chooses a working selection for the old counter and marks the remaining stock for early packing. We can move the marked backstock first, keeping carton sizes and other supplies in separate groups. After release, we move the active display stock to assigned shelves.

How should we separate retail moving supplies from office supplies?

Give us a merchandise list or shelf map that distinguishes sale stock from the materials your staff uses at the desk. We label cartons with the product group and the destination, such as display or backstock. Your staff identifies open cases and checks quantities against its inventory record.

Who decides the layout of the new supply display?

Your manager approves the position of each portable fixture and the product groups it will hold. We place the racks and labeled stock to that map, then ask your staff to check reach, presentation, and quantities. Your installer handles fixed displays before merchandise placement.

What happens to the computers at the customer counter?

We can disconnect the desk-level computers, monitors, and printers, label them by station, protect them for the trip, and reconnect them at the assigned counter. Your technology contact handles the customer system, account access, and verification after the equipment is in place. Your manager tells us which station must stay in use until the old counter closes.
