How We Plan After-Hours & Weekend Moves

Closing the shop door or clearing the office at day's end creates a useful moving window, but it does not by itself open the loading dock. If you want a move in the evening or over a weekend, we start by asking when the crew can enter each space and when both spaces must be handed back.

From there, we build the load around the available window. Your manager marks the pieces that can leave as soon as the work area clears, and the items that must stay until staff finish. We label and carry the agreed load to your receiving plan. The window is only as long as the building allows, so we load in reverse: what your staff need first on the next workday comes off the truck first.

Tell us who can authorize entry at each end and who can answer placement questions while the doors are open. A locked receiving door late in the evening can stall a crew that is otherwise on schedule.

Timing that works
An evening after customer hours or a weekend period approved by both properties; the usable window depends on keys, dock rules, elevators, and vendor availability.

What typically moves

  • Cash-wrap counters and removable checkout fixtures Your store lead identifies what is freestanding and clears cash, payment devices, and merchandise before the evening load.
  • Freestanding display cases and plinths Empty cases and display bases are padded, assigned a receiving position, and carried by the property's approved route.
  • Stockroom bin shelves and labeled merchandise cartons Shelf sections and packed stock travel with location labels so the receiving team can identify the correct back-room area.
  • Desk workstations and mobile pedestals Stations are marked to the floor plan before staff leave; loose parts stay identified with their workstation.
  • Meeting-room tables and presentation carts Table sections, hardware, and movable carts are assigned to their destination room before the access window begins.
  • Guest-area seating and movable reception pieces Freestanding pieces are wrapped and staged only where the building permits, keeping shared passage open.

Access and scheduling

Send the permitted hours from each property, including when loading may begin, when the dock closes, and whether weekend access differs from weekday access. We ask who holds keys or badges, whether a freight elevator needs a reservation, where a truck may stand, and whether building management requires a Certificate of Insurance.

Before the date is set, walk the inventory with us and mark the last items staff will use. Your contact decides when that area is released to the crew. We can arrange the loading order around that release, the building's noise rules, and the receiving rooms that become available first. Your property contact reserves a shared dock slot; we use the assigned entrance. We also identify who can meet the crew at the destination and authorize final placement before the access period ends.

Protection and handling

Evening work calls for a route that is ready before the first cart moves. We check lighting at the service entrance, turns through shared halls, elevator dimensions, and any floor protection the property specifies. At the origin, we label movable pieces by destination, pad exposed corners, and keep small hardware with the piece it belongs to.

Workstations are unplugged at the end of the staff day, their cords bagged to the station label, and plugged back in at the destination so your IT contact can test them before the next morning. For a shop or hospitality space, your equipment vendor or licensed trade handles attached, plumbed, or powered units that require their service. Our crew moves only the released, agreed pieces. At the end of the window, your site contact checks placement and the property contact confirms how the service route should be left.

Who does what

Some of this job belongs to other trades. The written plan names each one.

Building access and service-area hours
Property management grants the dock, elevator, and corridor window. Your site contact provides keys or badges; our crew follows the approved route and timing.
Desk equipment checks after placement
Your IT contact checks network access and device operation. We can physically disconnect, carry, and reconnect computers, monitors, and printers at their labeled stations.
Attached or service-connected equipment
Your equipment vendor or licensed trade releases and reconnects its units. We handle an agreed movable piece only after that handoff is clear.

Not part of our work

  • Opening a property outside its authorized access period or changing a landlord's dock and elevator rules.
  • Connecting building power, plumbing, or other fixed services; the appropriate licensed trade handles those connections.

Around San Antonio and the Hill Country

San Antonio properties set evening rules differently. Downtown towers may route after-hours freight through one guarded dock, Loop 1604 retail centers may lock service corridors at a fixed hour, and medical buildings in the Medical Center area may limit elevators while clinics run late. Fiesta, arena events, and convention weekends crowd downtown streets at night. A Hill Country property may have no one on site after closing, so key handoffs are arranged ahead.

After-Hours & Weekend Moves FAQs

Another question? Call (830) 329-7272.

What must be confirmed before we choose an evening move window?

Ask both properties when the crew may enter, use the loading area, run carts through common space, and leave. Confirm keys or badges, a dock or elevator reservation, any noise limits, and Certificate of Insurance requirements. Share those terms with us along with the last time staff need each work area. We can then discuss a window that fits the actual access.

Can the crew start while our store is finishing its closing tasks?

We can plan a release order with your store manager. Staff can clear a stockroom or back office for loading while they finish approved tasks elsewhere, if the property permits the route and the areas remain separated. Tell us which fixtures and cartons must stay in use until closing. Your manager authorizes each area before we move its contents.

Who needs to be available during a weekend handoff at the new space?

Name a contact who can open the destination, confirm where labeled pieces belong, and answer questions about exceptions. Building management may also need someone available for the dock or elevator, depending on its rules. If computers or service-connected equipment are included, arrange your IT contact or vendor for their own work.

How do we plan the end of an evening or weekend access period?

Give us the property's exit procedure and the time common areas must be clear. We plan the final loads and placement check around that cutoff, with your contact available to approve locations and identify anything that should remain. The property contact explains cleanup and who secures the doors.
