Planning a Salon & Barbershop Move

A salon move is measured in usable chairs. Each stylist knows which mirror, cabinet, and chair belong together. We turn that knowledge into a station list before packing starts. A label follows the chair, freestanding station, mirror, and drawers assigned to each position, so the new shop does not open with familiar tools scattered across the floor.

Backwash units need a separate handoff. Their basins, chairs, and attached fittings may belong to the premises or require the installer and appropriate trade to prepare them. We ask you to identify what is staying and what the installer has agreed can travel, then place that work on the same calendar as the movable stations. Our crew can handle the listed chairs, loose furnishings, and packed shop contents. Your installer decides when a backwash position is ready for placement and use.

We load the stations your first reopening appointments need last, so they come off the truck first and stand ready before the remaining chairs arrive.

Who usually signs off
Salon or barbershop owner, with the lead stylist or barber confirming station assignments
Timing that works
Use the appointment book to set the last service at the old shop and the first available chair at the new one; ask about evening or weekend windows.

What typically moves

  • Hydraulic styling and barber chairs Each chair is identified by its destination station; footrests and removable headrests stay marked to that chair.
  • Freestanding styling stations and tool cabinets Drawers are emptied or secured, and removable shelves and hardware travel with their station number.
  • Station mirrors and freestanding mirror frames Movable mirrors receive face and edge protection; wall-fixed mirrors need the owner's release and an installer plan.
  • Rolling color carts and mixing bowls Carts and packed bowls follow the color area; your staff sorts and closes product containers before packing.
  • Reception counter and waiting benches Freestanding pieces are assigned to the entry layout so the client path stays clear during unloading.
  • Retail product shelving and sealed stock Shelves are marked by display position, while your team counts products and chooses what stock travels.

Access and scheduling

Your appointment book sets a practical boundary for the move. Mark the final booking for each chair. If bookings require it, ask about moving after closing or over a weekend. The new shop's contractor and backwash installer should confirm when their work areas can receive movable pieces before the arrival time is set.

At both addresses, we need the route from chair to truck: storefront or rear door, any narrow hall beside the wash area, and the space needed to turn a chair without brushing mirrors or finished walls. For an upper-floor suite, ask management about elevator reservations and a Certificate of Insurance. Send us the landlord's rules and the floor plan with station numbers. If your lease leaves built-in stations or basins in place, mark them separately so they do not enter the movable inventory.

Protection and handling

A chair's base, arms, and upholstery need different protection. We cover upholstery, pad exposed arms and footrests, and keep the chair upright when its maker's handling instructions call for it. Detachable pieces carry the chair label. Freestanding station tops get edge protection; small drawers and fittings are grouped by station instead of pooled into a shop-wide carton. Mirrors travel with rigid face protection and a destination label visible at unload.

Your staff keeps personal kits and active appointment materials. For shared supplies, we can pack closed containers by color area, wash area, or reception. Your team checks product closures. At delivery, we place chairs and stations against your numbered plan, leaving room for the backwash installer to finish its work. The installer confirms the finished wash positions; your staff arranges tools and products for service.

Who does what

Some of this job belongs to other trades. The written plan names each one.

Backwash basins, chairs, and plumbing connections
Your licensed plumber disconnects water lines, prepares reusable units, and reconnects and tests it at the new shop. The installer directs handling; we move only released pieces with an agreed handling plan.
Wall-mounted mirrors and built-in stations
Your landlord or fixture installer confirms what can be removed, takes down attached pieces, and reinstalls them if needed. We handle released movable components listed for transport.
Retail stock count and individual tool kits
Your staff counts products and keeps personal tools assigned to their owners. We move packed shared supplies and cartons identified on the shop's inventory list.

Not part of our work

  • Disconnecting or reconnecting water or plumbing at backwash units; your licensed trade handles those connections and testing.
  • Removing landlord-owned fixtures or wall-fixed mirrors without the owner's release and an installer's removal plan.
  • Counting retail products or deciding which personal tools and chemicals should travel; your shop team makes those choices.

Around San Antonio and the Hill Country

Many San Antonio salons and barbershops lease suites in strip centers along Bandera Road, Culebra, and US-281, with a rear service drive shared with a restaurant or dry cleaner. In salon-suite buildings, a chair may travel a long common hall before it reaches the truck. On Boerne's Main Street and in downtown Kerrville, an older storefront may have only a front door.

Salon & Barbershop Moving FAQs

Another question? Call (830) 329-7272.

How do our stylists get their own chairs and mirrors back together?

Give every styling or barber position a number on the new floor plan. Confirm which chair, mirror, freestanding station, and cabinet belong to that number. We label the movable pieces and pack station fittings together. At delivery, we place the group at its assigned position so each professional can set up tools and products.

Can the backwash basins travel with the salon chairs?

Have your landlord and installer identify removable basins. The licensed trade and installer prepare any unit selected for reuse and provide its handling requirements. We can review transport of a released piece once that plan is clear. Freestanding styling chairs follow the regular chair inventory; a connected wash position follows the installer's schedule.

What should each barber or stylist keep out of the moving cartons?

Ask each professional to separate personal shears, clippers, active client notes, and the kit needed for their next appointment. Your staff can close and sort shared color products and supplies by work area. We can pack the shared items you assign to the move, with labels for their new location. Personal kits stay with their owners.

How do we plan the move if some stations will stay in service longer?

Mark those stations on the appointment schedule and leave their chairs, mirrors, and tools out of the early load. We can clear unused stations and packed stock first, then return for the chairs still serving guests after their final bookings. Your owner sets closing time and priority positions; we unload to the numbered floor plan.
